Sin Tat Kyin

Sin Tat Kyin is located 241 km southwest of Mandalay, with a population of 800 in 170 households. The villagers farm beans and sesame seeds for a living. The school has 139 students from K-grade seven, including 49 girls and 90 boys which is an atypical gender ratio.

The existing school facilities include an open-air shed, the cooking/dining room in the local monastery, and two structures with roof frames destroyed by termites.  To continue their education after grade seven, students must travel 13 km to Kyauk Pa Daung, which is challenging by foot or bicycle. Few girls attend the higher grades. MBSPF is planning to construct a new 60′ x 30′ building to encourage greater enrollment of girls and to add grades eight and nine.
