Lay Thar Gone

Lay Thar Gone village is about 25 miles east of Kalaw and has a population of 380 in 68 households. The villagers are members of the Taung Yoe tribe and farm ginger, mountain brown rice, tomatoes and rap seed for oil.  They currently have 65 students in an old 40′ x 23′ primary school building and a 12′ x 10′ bamboo kindergarten, with both buildings in need of ceilings.

Lay Thar Gone was in great need of a new 60′ x 30′ school building which we constructed this year plus a new teachers’ cottage. With this building completed, there is now adequate educational infrastructure for both primary and middle school students in the village.
