Lat Maung Kwe Clinic

Lat Maung Kwe village is about 25 miles northeast of Kalaw. It has a population of 700 in 184 households. The villagers are Taung Yoe tribespeople and farm ginger, corn, beans, rapeseed and rice. There is a tar road leading to the village for about 23 miles followed by a 2 mile sand road. The village does not have electricity.

The existing medical clinic was a 20 x 15 bamboo structure with a dirt floor and no ceiling. Eight surrounding villages send people to this clinic where there is one midwife/nurse in residence. A new medical facility was desperately needed and we built a new 30′ x 30′ clinic this year.
