Education Makes a Difference

Our schools are built by skilled Burmese labour crews supervised by local contractors. Contractor Maung Maung Gyi and his crew members build the schools in the Mandalay area and contractor Ernest Singh together with his sons and crew members handle the school construction in the rural villages in the Kalaw vicinity. The funds that we send to Myanmar are allocated to the purchase of local building materials and the payment of local wages.

Each village commits to supplying the crews with accommodation, food and some labour, such as preparing the site and helping with the construction. Upkeep of the schools is the responsibility of the village. Teachers are housed by the village and appointed and paid by the Myanmar government’s Ministry of Education.

You can help this work by making a donation.  Your contribution will go directly toward the purchase of building materials and the wages of the workers in Myanmar and you will receive an official Canadian tax receipt.  (All administrative costs of MBSPF are paid by the MBSPF founders.)

Designated in 2012 as a Canadian Registered Charity (#80949 0865 RR0001), Myanmar/Burma Schools Project Foundation welcomes donations and issues official tax receipts.
