The existing school infrastructure was in very rough shape. Grades 2, 4 and 5 were being held in a cramped building constructed in 1977. It has been repainted since then but it is very hot and noisy inside due to a low ceiling, no interior walls and the crowded conditions. Grade 1 and the Kindergarten were in a palm leaf building without exterior walls that is exposed to rain and wind. Grade 3 was held outside under a roof adjacent to the school propped up by boards and a couple of trees. During windy or rainy weather, lessons cease because these two structures offer little protection from the elements. We have now provided a new 60′ x 30′ school building.
