Eain Shey Taung

This village lies 80 km south of Mandalay and has a population of 980 in 245 households. The villagers raise cows and pigs and farm corn, bananas, beans and sesame seeds.  The village school has 56 girls and 47 boys currently enrolled from k- grade 5.

One school structure is a basic bamboo shed with no walls, exposing students to rain and cold. The second was designed to hold two classrooms but now has three grades plus a teacher’s office.  For higher grades, students must cycle to another village 11.5 km away which takes 45 minutes to an hour each way.
