Education Makes a Difference
Our schools are built by skilled Burmese labour crews supervised by our contractors. John Stevens and Maung Maung Gyi build the schools in the Mandalay area and Ernest Singh and his sons build around Kalaw. The money that we send to Myanmar goes toward the purchase of local building materials and the payment of local wages.
Each village commits to supplying the crews with accommodation, food and some labour, such as preparing the site and helping with the construction. Upkeep of the schools is the responsibility of the village. Teachers are housed by the village and appointed and paid by the Myanmar government’s Ministry of Education.
You can help this work by making a donation. Your contribution will go directly toward the purchase of building materials and the wages of the workers in Myanmar and you will receive an official Canadian tax receipt. (Administrative costs of MBSPF are currently paid by the generosity of a Canadian donor.)
Designated in 2012 as a Canadian Registered Charity (#80949 0865 RR0001), Myanmar/Burma Schools Project Foundation welcomes donations and issues official tax receipts to Canadian taxpayers.
If you prefer to send a cheque, please make it payable to MBSPF and mail to:
